What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear content creation? Most will say a blog post.
That’s right but what does a blog post look like? You may say it’s the written word but it doesn’t have to be limited to the written word. You could include a short video clip, a list of your ten favorite things, an infographic, or a podcast sound bite. It could be so many things, let your imagination lead the way.
But whatever medium you choose, it all starts with words. And it all needs a strategy. Creating without a plan of action in mind is a waste of time and a waste of money because time is money.
So, how do you save yourself time and money? How do you create all that content without continually stressing about it?
You want to feel peace around your content creation; you want it to flow with ease. You want Zen. The last thing you need is to struggle with getting ideas all the time. To easily communicate with your audience is your goal.
So, how do you get the ease, the peace? Where is that Zen feeling in all of this? (Hint: Keep reading this post and get your free resource.)
Imagine, for a moment, that today is the day you scheduled to create an inspiring piece of content. You go to your topic bank, your repository of ideas if you will. You may have this in a spreadsheet, on a program like Evernote, or in a notebook where you listed your topics in three categories, alternating between them every time you reach out to your audience.
You’re at the bank now. Do you know which topic to withdraw from your repository? If you have a strategy, you won’t even have to think about it. The question is, what is your strategy? Is it to grow your audience? To promote a product you’ll soon be selling, or a service you’ll be offering? Is it to get social media engagement?
These are all questions you answered when you devised your editorial calendar. It’s where you’ve listed all the important dates and events, all the upcoming promotions and sales, all the reasons for communicating with your audience.
Everything’s pre-booked for several months, along with your content creation ideas for every event. All you need to do now is go to the bank, make that withdrawal, and get writing or producing!
Can’t you feel the peace? I’ll bet you can breathe easier just knowing it can really be this easy. Welcome to the Zen of content creation! – LE.
